The Gospel According to Romans, part 2 of 4.
In this sermon, Lyle continues Paul’s judgment on the sinfulness of humanity.

Paul describes the depths of humanity depravity with three main arguments:
1. Ch. 1 employs a natural law argument, judging humanity from what can be known from creation.
2. Ch. 2 uses a philosophical or moralistic argument.
3. Ch. 3 argues from Scripture (next Sunday).

Good works are required and the law is to be obeyed, but they do not form the basis of our salvation.

We can’t even live up to our own rules, so how can we hope to please God with our good works.
