What is a church?

18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Hebrews 12:22–24 (ESV)
22But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, 23and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
2 Timothy 2:19 (ESV)
19But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”
Can you be a member of the Church and not be a member of a church?
The Bible compares Jesus’ Church to a building, a human body, and a family. But we must remember the Church is LIKE a building but it is not a building.
The word “church” is used in the Bible to cover a range of people. The Bible refers to a church in a person’s house; the church in Corinth; the churches in Asia.
It is important to note all these nuances.
One thing is for sure, it is difficult to find a Christ follower in the N.T. that is not associated/affiliated/identified with a local church or group of churches.
